Astrid Mulder is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily across photography and video. Working as both performer and image-maker, Mulder creates digital collages using photography and video of her own body in dialogue with colour and geometric form. Through fragmentation, repetition, and reassembly, choreographed gestures form abstract compositions that explore navigation, connection, and communication in contemporary life.

Drawing on the visual strategies of advertising, her work investigates how images direct attention, shape perception, and mediate our relationship with the world. Guided by an ongoing search for direction, clarity, and meaning, Mulder uses the body as a tool for translation and exploration to navigate the shifting space between presence and absence, self and other, and the real and the surreal. She approaches these tensions with playfulness and curiosity, inviting viewers to form their own associations and interpretations rather than offering fixed conclusions.
